November-December 2019

11/2/2019

Hello Church!
The year is just flying by! I cannot believe we are on the cusp of November and December.
Although the time has gone fast, this year has been full of different emotions and
experiences for all of us,  and nonetheless, it has been a good year and I am continually
reminded how blessed I am.

For the last few months we have been discussing topics regarding Discipleship.
Discipleship is our journey to becoming like Jesus and dedicating our lives to following
the path He set out before us. We have done this through topics such as finding the
power within our personal testimonies, the importance of scripture in our walk as
Christians, as well as who it is that we reach out to and welcome into our community of
faith. Coming up, we will continue talking about discipleship topics.

Before Advent comes in December, the sermon topics will revolve around
hospitality during the month of November. We all know that Thanksgiving is a big
holiday in November. For that reason, I don’t believe there is a better topic than
Hospitality to talk about during this month. Thanksgiving is all about taking inventory of
what you have and what you have been given and celebrating those things in
thankfulness. Hospitality is the act of using what you have to bless the people around you.

Another important activity that the church participates in during the time of
Thanksgiving is taking up our annual THANK OFFERING. Each year, this is a
special offering that is taken, and a percentage of the donations are divided up
between different LOCAL charities and causes. This is so that we can be involved
with and serve the people who need our help the most in our area. That means that
when you donate to the Thank Offering, you are giving to benefit people that you know
and love, and OUR COMMUNITY will be impacted by our joyous giving!

I hope that as we enter this holiday season, it is easy for you to remember what
you are thankful for. Throughout the emotions, tasks, preparations, and experiences the
holiday season holds for each of us, I hope you can hold fast to the meaning behind the
different holidays and remember to lift your praise and thanksgiving up to God for the
things you have been blessed with.

With the Love of Christ,
Pastor Jon
