What should I expect if I come?
Expect to be greeted. Our members love seeing new faces, you will be welcomed and talked. People might ask you questions, but they won't be invasive, they just genuinely are glad you have come and are interested in you as a person.
Our service is only an hour long. So, you don't have to worry about being bored.

Will I be able to understand the message even if I don't know much about the Bible?
Yes. Pastor Julie preaches in a way that is introspective, relatable, and relevant to life. She makes the message simple to grasp and designs them so that anyone of any step in their faith journey can understand them easily.
What if I have no church background or come from a different faith tradition?
Part of our mission statement is that we are caring, loving, and welcome all people. If you have no church background but are interested in learning more, please come to Sunday service. While you are with us, we will try to give you something to fill your soul.
If you come from a different faith tradition or a different denomination, you are also more than welcome to come. If you want to know more about Methodism or the church itself, you are more than welcome to contact Pastor Julie at 618-658-0281 or an email at [email protected] or send an email to the church secretary at [email protected].

Is there a dress code?
No. We do not have requirements on how we think you should dress when attending Sunday worship. While some may wear their "Sunday Best", more often than not, you will see that our members come to worship in comfortable casual attire.
Do I have to put money in the offering?
No. Our financial offering is a way for our members to give back to and help support the church in financial matters. Under no circumstances would we ever expect a guest to give. If you want to, you certainly can. However, you do not have to.
What you can do, is if you have something you would like prayer for, fill out a "Joys and Concerns" card (located in the church pews), and place that in the offering plate as it goes around.

How can I get connected?
Right now, we have two main groups that meet, the UMW and the Seniors group. We have monthly family focused activities that you and your family are more than welcome to attend.
What does it mean to be United Methodist?
United Methodism finds its theological roots in the theology of John Wesley. The majority of John Wesley's theology can be broken down to a single word, "Grace". Being people who are focused on receiving the grace of God and being gracious people as well is essentially the core action of being a United Methodist. The word Methodist was, at the beginning of the Methodist movement, actually a negative term that was reclaimed for the Methodist Movement. This word denoted the fact that there was certain way that Methodists worship. We still retain this way of worshipping today. Simply put, the "method" is essentially call and response. Our whole goal as Christians is to respond to God and our worship reflects that.
How do I become a member?
Church membership is something that you should think about in depth before you make the decision. If you want to know more about being a member and knowing what all membership entails, you would need to speak with Pastor Julie or send an email to the church secretary at [email protected].
What is Communion? Can I take it?
Communion is simply a way for us to connect with God's grace and to "commune" with God as well as the believers throughout the whole world. We take communion on the first Sunday of every month. We do this because there is a thought that we are partaking in grace alongside every other person who takes communion on that day. It is really quite beautiful.
As Methodists, we practice what is called "open communion". Meaning, YES, YOU CAN TAKE IT. There are no requirements because it is not something that is initiated by humans. Rather, communion is all about the grace that God gives us. God is the initiator and we do not think God would deny anyone the right to be in fellowship with Him.

Can I get baptized?
Yes. United Methodists can baptize someone using either pouring, sprinkling, or immersion (these are simply the ways that baptism can be done). Methodists believe in infant baptism as well as baptizing persons of any age. We do not do RE-baptism. So, if you have already been baptized, you cannot be baptized, however, we can hold a service centered around remembering one's baptism. For more details, you would have to contact Pastor Julie either directly by calling her at 618-658-0281 or email at [email protected], or by emailing the church secretary at [email protected].
